    You state basic things such as file format wave at 24 bits but don't say how this is professional. By all means state 24 bits and 48k, but you have to tell us the inherent noise floor, shielding, etc. At this point we should have an idea if these units hold up over time. The battery life might be great when you first purchase a unit. How about months later with regular use? If it is all internal storage space then how well do they hold up? Are we seeing file corruption? Do the connectors get less reliable over time? Do the units hold up to field work long term or are they fragile?

    Let's just walk through this. Are microphones typically "complicated?" No not really. Are wind socks typically difficult to put on? No not really. Are microphones and receivers typically difficult to power up? No not really. What makes a lavelier microphone fancy? Are you just trying to say that it has an input for an external source? Zoom and other companies make microphone/recorder units too. How is this different from those? I only survived about six minutes of the video. Does he ever explain sending the audio from the receiver to a stand alone recording device? Are there two separate audio tracks from the receiver or do they get mixed down into one?

    Sigma 16-28 is a better option IMO and covers the ranges needed for environmental portrait, real estate, urban wide portraits and landscape. There is no need for many fps for photos at that wide range. Optically they are all great but for the price, I won't for for its zoom range limitations.

    I once learned all but forgot to use it or didn't have the option to use them much. I love the cut on the action and match cut, feels really strong editing moves while also subtle. The L and J cuts are great to connect cuts further. I think cutting to the beat is a bit overhyped and overused. It's cool but only when used carefully and for the right video. My tip is to concentrate on the audio: use ambience/environmental sounds, sfx. Use the right volumes for tracks. Do not afraid to modify the volume for a smaller part of the audio (like pulling down the music for some sfx or narration). As for the visuals: sometimes less is more, so don't overdo trendy cuts, transitions, overlays, etc

    Thanks for this video man, I bought this lens on ebay and had instant buyers regret, I'm filming a youtube video for a new channel, lots of talking head and over head product stuff, and I've got a ZV-E10, so I was worried the non-full frame thing would be an issue, so appreciate you breaking it down for APS-C. Also love how many canadians are on youtube, seems like hollywood we overrepresent!

    As much as I liked the capabilities of Capture One's color grading tools, I did notice the exact same thing right away regarding adjustments of highlights / shadows and selective colors. Lightroom just seems to affect the expected range and offer a wider degree of adjustments, while in Capture One, I sometimes feel that I need to go for a more complex masking, and the maximum amount of the adjustments is not enough for my needs... For example, before switching to Capture One a few years ago, I typically darked down the blues in Lightroom to reveal the sky texture and make it less overexposed. In Capture One, I couldn't achieve the same effect as easily.

    Remember that's only at 3:1. You have other options that are still going to have the same color grading ability. If you shoot at 12:1 then your BRAW files will be 1/4th the size. At Q5, the datarate will vary between 1/2 to 1/5th the data-rate of 3:1. Likewise if you're recording something that's really high detail, Q0 can go up to datarates that are higher than 2:1. If you're shooting something in low-light that's really noisy, shooting at Q0 will be the best option to prevent any compression from removing any signal that's under the noise. Shooting at Q0 with the highest resolution your camera can do will allow you to recover way more signal from that footage when using noise reduction. In this case, noise reduce at 5.9K, then downsample to 4K to average additional noise. The result you get will be much cleaner and sharper than you can get in-camera. It's a lot but definitely not overkill when you're shooting a light starved scene.

    You forgot one other problem with vari ND’s: color shifts due to change in the strengths filtering out varying degrees of visible light but not equally proportionate amounts of infrared light. For those who shoot and color their work this is a big annoyance when shooting to match exposure but throwing off the white balance when doing so. Even more so when not shooting raw.

    I actually think the original Sony ZV1, not the new mark II is the way to go! The new Mark II has a 16 to 50mm f1.8 to f4 lens. The older ZV1 has a 24 to 70mm f1.8 to f2.8 lens! So, you get a good f stop and more in low light capability from the f1.8 lens on the ZV1 than on the ZV1 mark II ! PLUS, let's look at the other end of the zoom range. The new Mark II is much slower, and not so good for low light photography at f4, and only gets out to 50mm! Where as the ZV1 get out to 70mm, substantially more "zoomed" in, but it also does that at only f2.8 instead of f4, and that's HUGE difference in low light capability!!! Actually, as far as lens specs go, a 70mm f2.8 is quite a spendy lens if purchased separately as most are f3.5 to f4.5, so it's a nice surprise!! 💯 The ZV1 also has two types of image stabilization which actually works so much better than the single type the newer camera uses! So image stabilization is way, Way better on the older ZV1. Now let's get to the good part! ... The older ZV1 retailed for $750 where the newer mark II version retails for $900. Since the new Mark II is, well, newer lol there's less likely to score a huge discount on a very nice condition used camera from eBay or wherever. There's also a neat little conundrum when buying a used ZV1 from eBay! Lol Sony came out with an entry level camera called the ZV1F ... Yes! The "F" is the only part of the model number that was changed and owners selling used are confused by only a single letter differentiating between the much lower capable F and ZV1. Many sellers are pricing their nicer ZV1 at the price the $500 retail ZV1F retailed for! Haaha! So, I was able to buy a nice condition ZV1 for what the lowest price of the ZV1F's are going for used! 😉 Instead of the used ZV1's selling for around $580 to $650, like the majority are selling for used, some sellers are pricing their ZV1 for what the ZV1F's are going for. Well, there's a $250 difference in retail and a whole lotta difference in the two cameras capabilities! So, I purchased a used ZV1 for only $352 shipped! And that was from a Top Rated seller with lots and lots of ebay sales history and a 99.7% seller rating, with full returns for 30 days! Other ZV1's were priced at $350 to $430 too, and as of 6/24 there were quite a few to choose from with this mixed up pricing!!! 😁 Typically you can't get any of these used camera offerings, from almost all brands and models of cameras, for less than HALF of retail, but I discovered this little one letter screw up and jumped on it! 😎🤘 You can too! Just avoid anything with an F at the end of the ZV1 model number and pick and choose from several at a bargain price! Enjoy! I like, not only the price, but the lens zooming capability and lower light f stops and better image stabilization of the ZV1 much better than the mark II ... I think it's a better camera, unless you want a wider 16mm lens, like the vloggers seen to prefer. I like the 24 to 70 "faster" lens and better stabilization, myself. 🥳

    Can’t believe I’m looking at “camera bags” again… as I bought a Nanuck case for my Sony FX3 and prime lenses and the BEVISGEAR Top Shelf for my A1 and two Zooms… each great for day trips for video OR photography but not for carrying BOTH camera bodies and all lenses for a longer trip on a plane’s overhead… Goodness knows the airlines complain about taking up a “whole bin” but seriously… I’m gonna risk $20K of equipment for a plane trip!?! As an older guy, I like that smaller bag because that’s all I’m gonna take out for the day on a travel safari - what I’m gonna shoot for the day (namely Photograpy OR Video NOT both) and, at the risk of having my hotel room burglaried, I’m leaving half behind.

    If the Sigma lens is brighter than the other two, doesn't that more to do with the electronics inside the lens, not the glass? That needs to be investigated. How can lenses rated at f2.8 let in more or less light? could be the Sigma is not accurately reporting its true f-stop? What's going on?

    • @dunnadidit
      @dunnadidit День назад

      There are two different measurements that are similar. F-Stop and Transmission (or t-stop if you'd like) F-stop, in my understanding is more of a physical measurement of the aperture. But the transmission will have to do with the amount of light that still gets let in at any given aperture and is affected by the coatings and the glass inside the lens. As far as I'm aware, the T rating is always higher than the F-stop. So an f/1.4 might be t/1.9 or something like that. You'll see the T marker on cine lenses rather than an F-stop so that they In this case, I'd imagine that the sigma just has slightly better transmission. Hopefully that makes sense!
